Hellen Ascoli // Weaving Workshop at the ICA
Drawing on her experience as a museum educator and her extensive study of weaving and its histories, Hellen Ascoli will lead a family-friendly, bilingual weaving workshop at the ICA at VCU. Participants will be introduced to the rich history and traditions of Mayan textiles; their techniques, designs, and symbolism. This all-ages workshop is free and open to the public. All materials will be provided.
Images from the artist’s series titled Amanecí temprano para peinar el mundo (I woke early to comb the world) will be on view at The Anderson during the Stone’s Throw: Arte de Sanación, Arte de Resistencia exhibition (Jan. 17-Feb. 25).
